Templer Study Centre
Our Templer Study Centre is now accessible to students aged 16 and above. Take advantage of the opportunity to explore in depth the campaigns, personalities, and social history of Britain’s Army, and to draw upon the expertise of Study Centre curatorial staff.
To access the Templer Study Centre’s collections of regimental and campaign histories, archives, photographs, prints and drawings, students should bring with them some means of identification, such as a passport or a driving license. The Study Centre is open 10-5 every Thursday and Friday and the first and third Saturday of the month.

Somme 1916 Pack
Britain has never experienced anything like the Battle of the Somme, before or since. Was it justified? Hear from the historians, the survivors and those who died. Make up your own mind. Where 300,000 lie dead, where do you stand?
This Somme 1916 Pack contains primary and secondary materials exploring aspects of the Battle. Its focus is the experiences on the 2nd Middlesex and the 2nd Bedfordshires on the infamous first day. The pack has everything you need to run activities relating to the Somme, including facsimiles, contextual and reference material, and a complete lesson plan for teachers - all of which can also be found on the included cd-rom.

Our free public events programme offers a range of changing exhibitions, events, academic conferences, study days and activities to help visitors enjoy new experiences every time.
All events offer activities for different age ranges, and some weekends, related to school study programmes, are very useful for particular age groups. Find out more at on our events page or contact our education department.
